I've always hated how LS V8 looked on the LS trunk for some reason & have been wanted to redo it to reflect the original name of the LS so today I removed the letters cleaned them off & put some new 3M tape on them & put them back on as LS8.

I know it's silly & probably stupid to post, but just wanted to share with everyone.

I like it. Subtle things like this are always neat.


I am still debating whether to paint mine black or not...or just taking them off

QUestion: What does disguising the license plate achieve online that it doesnt achieve in real life as you are driving around past millions of strangers?
 
Maybe because you dont' drive by billions of strangers from all over the world in real life.

Honestly though, I don't know why I black it out. I just do.
 
I seem to recall that Lincoln's original intention with the LS was to call it the LS6 and the LS8. I think that Lexus prevented that.

correct. It resembled Lexus' nomenclature too closely.
 
Very nice. Subtle enough that only a select few would notice and appreciate it. I feel like I am a part of the club.
 
Looks good. The little things here and there add up and make it look nicer over all.

I always forget to but I also wonder why I should. This is a pretty specific forum of a car no longer in production so not that many strangers come on here. What info can ppl get with plate numbers, info on the cars, owner, where you live maybe. But if someone really wanted to know where you live, they wouldn't need your name, just pay a few bucks for one of those background check search engine things and all your info comes up. Can people even find out where you live with only your plates and no background check website? I've tried inputting my plate number of google but nothing comes up.
 
do a google search for a "reverse license plate lookup". It is possible, but costs vary from $40 to over $100.

Or if you're lucky like me, you have a cop buddy or 2 who has access to the databases and can run any plate you want. :D
 
Yeah, excatly, ppl have to pay to get your info and stuff, so if someone really want to get your info, they'll get it, with or without your plates
 
The whole plate blacking out thing started with members who drag race their cars or road race etc. This is typically ricer category. But insurance companies do and used to have workers that actually troll popular race forums to see who is racing their daily drivers regularly.

There was a big deal about this a while ago regarding alot of subarus. But i have not heard of it recently.

So unless you are paranoid about that and racing your car ( LS drivers have nothing to worry about ) then blacking it out is basically pointless.

If I ever post a pic of someone else's car I black out the plate out of courtesy. I've done it on mine, but I don't really care. Trust me, I am way to boring to have anything to hide.
 
i love it. so do you just pull it off? is there a specific way?
 
Ive been wanting to for sometime now to get rid of all badges and get the Lincoln cobra star on each side of my rockers or have them both spittin' at the rear surround on the rear
