My 2000 LS V8 with 60k is missing/hesitating. When I go to accelerate, there is a brief hesitation. It seems as as if the car is missing. There is no check engine light (CEL) on the dash, so I am puzzled. I visually inspected the engine bay and noticed no oil leaks, so I am unsure if it is the bad coils/ leaking oil problem that most LS are plagued with. My plan was to change the fuel filter this weekend to see if that makes a difference. Does anyone have any other idea as to what could be causing this?

did this happen BEFORE or AFTER you replaced your fan blade? and CEL is not showing up? hmmmmm...... good luck, don't spend too much money.

Now the CEL is on and the misfire is very noticeable at idle, and while accelerating. I am leaning towards new spark plugs, and maybe some new coils. Am I on the right track?

visual inspection of the engine bay is not going to tell you if you have oil in the spark plug wells,

The wells are between the 2 cam shafts, meaning UNDER the valve covers, you have to pull one of the coils off and inspect the wells to be sure.

I suspect that is your problem, the vavle covers

same here

I have a similar problem, my check engine symbol on the dash started flashing last night for about 1 minute and then went off. I looked it up and it talked about engine misfires. Should the light have stayed on or what?? How bad is it to drive like this for another week? Low rpms in case you're wondering. Thanks.
Just to vent-- I already replaced 2 window regs, one window motor, the entire front sway bar assembly, hydrolic fan, and a few more things, will it get better or worse? 2000 ls8.

The Wife's VIC had similar misfire problems--turned out being a wet COP coil. I had washed the engine the day before. I took the car to Autozone and they fond a misfire in #5. Investigation led to water in the spark plug tunnel.
