Today I was driving and my fuel level was really low and I saw an ARCO and decided to fill up, usually I use Chevron or Mobil but my gas was really low. I filled up for $15 then drove for about 5-10 minutes and felt a hesitation when I pushed on the gas, I had never had it on this car before, I have a LS V6 with 100,600 miles, I drove for another 5 minutes and the Engine Light started blinking for about 10-15 times and stayed on. After few more minutes at the red light I noticed a shaking from the engine on the idle. Then I drove back home (about 25 miles), the car was hesitating all the time, doesn't only when I am very light on the pedal. My engine is stock, no intake, no PCM programmers and no exhaust.

I am thinking maybe something with fuel, because it happened right after I filled up, maybe the coils went out, no idea.

Get the codes read; without them, we're shooting in the dark.

FWIW, I had the same symptoms on a LSE V8 with 55000 miles and it was a bad fuel injector. Does the exhaust and car in general smell like fuel? Oil was flodded with fuel so they told me.

No, no smell of fuel at all. Yea, the Engine light turns on and after about 5 minutes blinks about 15 times then stays on again, after about 10 minutes the same goes on.

Well its giving a consistant code at least. Just gotta figure it out. Possibly the mass air or throttle position sensor. I'm just throwing out possibles.

Autozone has that scanning tool, no? I am gonna take it there tomorrow after work or I might just get very mad and take it to the dealer.

They may, I paid I think $80 for a pocket scaner this year, My Mark engine light came on and I figured it was time I had my own. Was just a loose plug.

Don't you think it may be from the bad fuel, I had never filled up from that particular gas station and never had that type of a problem with the car.

Bad gas does not give a CEL.

Unless you plan to do auto maintenance, I wouldn't mess with buying a scanner. Take it to your mechanic, no need to buy a $80 tool to tell you you need to take it to your mechanic for work you cannot do yourself.

Man, my mechanic is the dealership, I mean I have had good experience with this dealership, not perfect, but they are the only ones that I would trust my car to. I think I'll go there tomorrow and maybe have them change the front swaybar too, it's making some knocking when I start driving.

i would get the dtc reader at autozone ($149 deposit, but you get it right back after you return it), at least you'll have an idea on what can be wrong with it. coils are not that hard to change. i changed mine a while back, it didn't take too long. could be that infamous cylinder 8 coil that's always acting up. don't let those mechanics bully you around. get the code and see if what they tell you adds up.

WRONG!!! If the poor fuel causes a miss...it will definitely toss a code!

Since the problem popped up with a fresh tank of gas, I would think that is a reasonable assumption. I would drain the gas and replace it with fuel you know is good. I'm willing to bet that fixes your problem. If you know what you're doing, you can disconnect the fuel line at the rail and rig a hose to a can. Then jump your relay, turn the car to the KOEO position and pump it all out.

Thanks for help everybody.

My car is at the dealer and they found 2 bad coils #1 and #5, they are gonna change those and the sparkplugs, they asked $468, I agreed. They are also gonna look at my front suspention, they are gonna tell me tomorrow what's wrong with it, probably the stabilizator bar or something, it makes some knocking sounds when cold. My shocks are new.

Ok people I got my LS back an hour ago from the dealer.

They changed 6 sparkplugs and 6 coils. They asked $917, I agreed, but then I went to this pretty woman who was the casier over there and I started talking to her for couple of minutes and she gave me a 10% off, so I paid $824. Almost $100 off, she said that she was gonna be in trouble, but I said that with her beautiful self she can't be in trouble. I gave her a $2 bill as a present and wished her happy holidays.

They didn't fix my suspention noise, their mechanic drove the car and didn't hear anything, I'll take it in later for it.

The engine runs very good, better then before, I can't even feel that it's on, it doesn't shake at all. Very nice, I started liking my engine finally.

Glad all is well. Good work with the discount. The car looks great by the way (100,000 mile thread). Good eye for detail, tint with black pillers, no tips for cleaner look, fronts tasteful too. Less is sometimes more.
