I found this site last night while researching 80s Town Cars. I used to own an 83 Mark VI, loved it. I've had an 89 New Yorker for the last 3 years, it's o.k., but I really miss the full size Lincoln.
I bought the Mark for a trip to Seattle. Nothing better than a Lincoln for eating up highway miles. Montana didn't have a daytime speed limit (reasonable and prudent speed, something like that) but I could't get her over 70 or so. When I got to Seattle, I pulled on one of the spark plug wires and it broke off. After new plugs, wires, cap and rotor, she ran fine. After six months I noticed the rear carpet was always wet. I pulled up the carpet and several inches of sound deadener (THATS why she was so quiet) and found a hole in the floor board. I decided to sell her off and get a Fiero. The return trip to St. Louis was tougher, not nearly as much cargo room.
Not sure how much I can help with the technical stuff, but I'll post when I can.
