Just wanted to get some input on some HIDs. I'm looking to get HIDs for my 04 LS and wanted to know what types you guys were using and what would be the best. I'm looking for the purple color like the Mercedes headlights. I know this girl with a 04 S500 and I love the purple color her lights put out. It lights up the whole street. Let me know what you think the best is or what you have.

i am quite sure those are not oem... if you retro fit it and go purple color you wont really get more light... and also u are risking a ticket....

By all reports, the best, hands down, are the factory HIDs.

The S500 lights are OEM. She hasn't done anything to her car. Its stock and it puts out the purple color that I'm looking for.

if i am not mistaken those headlights are projectors and you wont be able to reproduce that effect unless you retrofit it yourself... i think ive seen one ls with them and i think they are off a mb either way they arenet truly purple... if you walk up to the car they should be a white yellow color...

If you can afford it get the factory OEM HID headlights. They are designed for the HID system. The OEM HID's are NOT projector style headlights. If I'm not mistaken the OEM HID headlights are around $400 EACH. Contact Bill Jenkins with Team Ford at 800-791-6436. He can get you the best price on those.

You can install a conversion HID kit. I have been running them for quite some time and really like them. I will say this, once you go HID you'll never go back to regular halogen again.

Good advice, thanks Ken.

As you know, the OEM HID system from Lincoln provides HID on the lowbeams only, with the highbeams and foglights being regular halogen bulbs. One question I have that others may be interested in is how to upgrade highbeam bulbs and foglight bulbs so that the color temperature matches as closely as possible the color temp of the OEM HID lowbeams. What products can you recommend to achieve this?

I have the Factory HID with Hoens from Ken in the High Beams. I have not changed out the fogs yet as I am trying to decide on all weathers or not. In any case the Hoens Plus from Ken work well with the factory HIDs.

I put the HOEN's in the highs and fog lamps from LSKoncepts and they match the factory HID look and color. They are not yellowish. They are bluish white.

Thanks for the input, guys. My car does not have the HID system. However, I've been running all Hoen bulbs for some time now (lowbeams, highbeams, and fogs), and I like them a lot. I'm glad to hear those same bulbs will complement the HID system I hope to get on an 06 LS.

I am all about LSKs setup come this Febuary when I have some more money saved for the LS.I think cars w/ HIDs look awesome, I am glad to read that people that have HIDs and Hoens are happy with the overall match of the Hoens. I have low and fog Hoens and like them a lot. Thanks for insight!

HI Guys,

Question, What is the difference in the Sylvania SilverStars and the Heon Xenon Krypton bulbs? I replaced all my bulbs with the Sylvanias and they look very white. A big improvment over OEM's. Thanks.
Happy New Year to All!!!!!

i have a 2004 ls v8 with factory HID headlights. the color is 4500k which is like a white with a little blue in certain angles. i recently bought very deep blue 12000k HID BULBS. the bulb size is H11 for 03+ with factory HID. i love them and they look amazing, especially when they warm up. i get compliments where ever i go. however, when driving at night you can tell that the light distance changed. I dont mid it that much because i love to see how blue the reflection of everything is and the brights on the ls are great which makes up for the low visibility.

if you have a facotry HID headlights then you can buy just the bulbs themselves without a conversion kit. most web sites that offer just HID bulbs w/o conversion kits, only sell individual bulbs so u have to order two. the price is right which is only about $250 with s/h for two bulbs. if you want to buy the bulbs you have to take into concideration that the bluer or deeper the color, the less visibility you have.

installation is kind of a pain but is VERY easy. First you have to remove the entire headlight unit from the car. then you have to remove the backing and take out the stock bulbs. when you take the backing of the headlight you will see how the bulb disconnects and connects. take the old lights out, put the new ones in, and re-install the headlight unit and your ready to start turning heads on the roads. If you are looking to do this conversion i highly recommend it because it just gives our cars that added edge to surpise people who don't know about the ls. it also makes it look great at night and you will look just as good as the S :D .

The higher in temperature you go, the less output you get, so avoid those 10000k, 8000k, 12000k bulbs like the plague. They are pretty much for style only.

An 8000k bulb has 40% less light output as a 4300k bulb.

That being said, about how much brighter would let's say a 10000k bulb be than a stock halogen on the LS. Would it be brighter than the HOEN's or are they that bad?

The 10000K HID kits will have less lumens than the Hoen halogen bulbs.

It would be brighter from the perspective of someone looking at your car.

As far as your actualy light output goes, it would be a little better than stock halogens, but not as good as the HOENs.

Go 4300-5300k (max) and you'll toss out enough light to make the ground look like daytime for faaaaaaaar ahead of what your halogens would.
