Can I just buy a kit with lows or is it better that I get one with highs and lows which would cost me an extra $200??

i had lows on my LS for a lil while.. ppl liked it.. then i jus got both..

Where is one with both highs and lows? Wouldnt the highs have a problem with shining bright as fast as the halogen? MY dad's car has stock HID's in his low and when you turn them on they take like one second or so to light up fully. YOu might be looking at a delay in the high bulbs. Just a thought. I have silverstar Highs...They look pretty nice for just a bulb. I'll get HIDs soon.

hid's really aren't appropriate for high beams due to the startup delay and the 5-10 seconds they take to reach full brightness. that's why factory hid low beams stay lit even when the brights are on

YES! That's what I was talking about. So if you have that delay, its not helping you much.

in fact, this could be quite a dangerous setup in a car that wasn't equipped w/hid's from the factory. To my knowledge non-hid equipped LS's turn off the low beams when the highs are on. If you were to put hid's in both the lows and highs there would be a delay when turning the high's on and off where there would be NO LIGHTS AT ALL. Sounds scary to me.

Theres not really a point where you have no light at all. They turn on pretty quick (like instantly) they just take about 5-8 seconds to reach full brightness.

Even when they're at there darkest darkest level like first second or so, they still throw light down the road

no. there would be an instant with no light. the typical hid setup takes about 1/2 to 1 second to fire. this would very with temperature a bit. I guess if you had the lows on for a while it would heat the other bulb/ballast enough to make it "fire" quickly. in cold (read ohio) weather and the lows haven't been on for long I think you'd have a very real delay.
