For some reason, after replacing my oil filter adapter gasket were i removed the oil filter and forgot, then tried to see where the oil leak was coming from for sure, i turned on the car and the oil started shooting.....oops, that's likely the stupidest thing i've ever done. anyway, i think i lost quite a bit of oil, it only ran for a few seconds, long enough to start some sort of ticking which later stoped when more oil was added. Anyway, my question is could my oil pressure be to high because i have to much oil in it? or might there be another reason for such high oil pressure? I have low coolant because i had to drain it all and i'm having a hard time filling the system back up, could that have something to do with it? The light seems to get brighter the higher the rpm's get. IDK why suddenly the oil pressure would be so high. I was ok before.

it doesn't say how high the oil pressure is, the comp. says the level is ok. the light gets brighter ask the rpm's go up.

i should mention, it's the oil light that comes on, nothing suggesting the oil pressure is high, but it get brighter as the rpm's increase.

if its the light im thinking of it means the pressure is getting lower!!!!

yeah exactlly the oil light is for low oil pressure so check your oil level and see where its at the computer isnt always accurate on the oil level because when the engine is runnig it will shoot oil all over fooling the sensor to belive it has oil. so check you oil with engine off. I think most marks take close to 7 quarts of oil. like 6.5 to 7 depending

The manual says to put 6 quarts in. I usually end up having 6.2-6.4 quarts in the car. If your oil light came on in might be too late, your oil pressure got extremelly low and you probably damaged the engine. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Check the dipstick man! Make sure you have the correct amount of oil in.

Since you just changed the adapter gasket, you may have bumped the oil level sending unit, or its wire harness.

You've got a PM...

they take 6qts of oil but to be safe ppl like to put and should put 6.5 in or atleast put 6 in then every 2k ad that extra half qt to a qt

problem solved

the problem is solved, once i finished filling up the radiator, and let the car sit for the night, it hasn't acted up sence. And she's running better than ever. I'm not use to the car, i havn't driven it since i got it because it has been sick. but on my way from an apointment down the road from my house, i jumped on the gas and took off like a bat out of hell! I didn't notice i got up to 90 and didn't even notice. i love a car that can snap your head back :L
