Hey guys I forgot my manual back in Michigan and I need to program the garage opener I searched but didn't find the instructions could one of you be so kind and help me out

Don't know what year your car is, but there are owner's manuals in .pdf format in the "tech articles" link up top.

or you can google it. that's what i did. except i'm not sure if it will work if you have a gate. i live in a gated property and i cannot get it to learn the gate code. calling homelink is a huge waste of time

do you currently have a remote control for the gate? i ask because in order to program it you will need to hold up the current opener to the homelink so that it "saves" the code. first you need to erase the current codes which you do by holding the 1st and 3rd button until it flashes i believe. then you hold the garage door opener button simultaneously w/ the homelink button you want to use.

yeah i put the clicker up to the visor and held it on until the visor button just stopped flicking- like 2-3 min. never learned the code. i tried it on both of my ls's so it's not the visor that's bad. i even tried cycling it...

I just did this about 5 minutes ago and it worked perfectly - I never did it before because I don't park my car in the garage, but it is an easy way to get in if I forget the keys in the house. Anyway, I just held the outer two buttons until the light started flashing. Then i held the remote up to the visor and held the first button on the visor and the button on the remote remote and it worked - no cycling or anything. My garage door opener is pretty darn old so I was surprised it worked.

I got a little confused at first on how to do it. You have to "save" the already programmed controller code onto the homelink control. Now that you have that code in your homelink, you have to program that code to the garage door by pressing the button on the garage door and the homelink. Atleast thats how I remember doing it a while ago.

I had to program my garage door opener by pressing the button on the unit as well. Older ones do not require that step.
