I have a 2002 LSE right now, but mounting issues are making me kind of skeptical with it.

Turns out that a used car dealer near me actually has a 5 speed in stock. Do you guys think that this is worth taking a look at, or is the high mileage not worth it? It has about 80,000 miles on it. My LS has about 115k and its becoming more and more problem-prone.

Here it is:

its missing the passenger window defogger thats prob like a thousand dollars(dealership only):) leather looks in good shape too.

Yeah, the car looks like it's in great condition. I just don't want to have to continually blow away money on repairs like with my LS right now. I want to go up and test drive it pretty soon.

It's funny, the place actually had two 5 speeds in stock. They sold a green 2002 not too long ago.

little bit of scraching on the front bumper

What a nit picker.. ;)

5 speeds are harder to come by nowadays.. Most have been wrecked..

BTW, :W to :V

I would defiantly talk them down on the price.. Also, take it for a test drive (of course) and listen/feel for misses and clunks..

If your serious about buying, take it to a trusted mechanic to have an inspection done..

I personally wouldint since its a V6 and 10 years old and its a bit pricey for being such.

But it looks in good condtion.

What makes you think this LS will be less "problem prone" than your current one?

Yeah the older you go usually the more repairs need to be done.

Newer is better man.

Yes it can be good...but chances for repair are higher with something thats 10 years old versus say only 6 or 5. I dont think i can from a newer to an older vehicle.

Yeah the older you go usually the more repairs need to be done.

Not always.. My employer bought a brand new chevy (first mistake there) and had so much trouble with it.. He sold it and bought a 98 Dodge (both were diesels)..

Look at it this way, most of the major repairs have been fixed by then.. Like VCGs and what not.. And the V6 isn't prone to timing chain problems..

Yeah but theres also the overall look of everything inside.

Leather gets worn and cracked.....carpets get stained. It just doesnt look as good
as a newer vehicle. And for that price you can easily pick up a 2003 V8.

I think it looks cool.

Most cars just have leather and no heated or cooled seats.

They got the center console right in the gen2 though.

Price is twice what I paid for mine. That one looks to be in better condition and is lower mileage.

Car looks great. Price is way too high.

My 2000 has had the following done in the past year (166K on it now)

left motor mount
radiator
upper hose assembly for cooling system
both rear calipers
clutch
transmission (due to unstoppable leaks on output shaft)
all 4 rotors
clock spring
degas bottle is waiting for installation
steering universal shaft
rear transmission mount (ruined by oil leak on shaft)

I love this car like a brother, and I wouldn't have it any other way!

I drove by there over the holidays, they had a couple 5 speeds on the lot then. While your there check out the Audi S4.
