Now don't make fun of me, but I thought this was funny and worth posting. :p

So I went to the track to do some tuning on the Blue Flame. :D

The car ran fairly well, I was testing different shift points to work on the tune. So occasionally I would pull into the pits to check tire pressures and change the tunes on the chip.

While checking the air pressure in the drag tires, a friend suggested I draw a line on the tires with something next to the valve stem to see if the rims were wanting to spin in the tire. I laughed out loud saying something to the effect that "I don't have that kind of power!"

Before I took back off to the staging lanes, I decided to humor him and took my dial-in marker and dabbed it on each wheel so it marked both the tire and rim.

After the event I loaded the car on the trailer and found this.

I would have never believed it.

Oh, by the way the best of the day was 13.442 @ 101.94. Yah, we're still working on it. :)

Wow. Any way to correct that other then bead locks?

The answer is in his nick... Drill 'em and screw 'em.
I was thinking maybe sanding the inner lip to roughen it up or if there may be some crap to put on when the tire is installed to help it grip.

LOL, I don't think it just started today, so my guess it's nothing to worry about.

Now maybe when I start lifting the front tires, we'll think about screws and bead lock rims. ;)

Nice times, you going to break your record you think this year?
How long ago did you have the tires mounted?
We used to do that big time on cars we put tires on at the BMW dealership I worked at. They told us to not drive 'em so hard on the test drives, and we had to tell the customers the same, lol... ;)

I actually messed around on my 275 sumitumo cheapy tires at the strip and I could feel they were out of balance all the way home as if they shifted.

Are those tires for the strip only? If so take the tubes out and measure the wheel tire and buy real short sheetmetal screws that will grab the tire but not the tube. Don't want to penetrate through the tire. Just into the tires bead. I did this with my mudracer and had to fill them with air every other week or so. Oh yeah it was my DD. But if you have tubes you'll lose nothing. I have done tire for years and have never had an issue with this method. Use 8 screws.

just get some aluminum screws anodized blue

Me personally?

Takes about 8 seconds to get to 40mph....my tires are safe atm. :D

BTW, cool photos....:)
