How is everybody in our little community holding up in this recession. I for one am disabled and my fixed income has taken a hit.

HAve been out of work since October and unemployment is JUST paying the bills.

Doing good actually, I got plenty of job security. And I got a raise Jan 1st. Probably the last one for the next 4 years :(

I'm down to 32 hours a week... I work for an automotive supplier. By far the worst I've seen in the 19 years I've worked there. Wife's hours are cut too, she's lucky to see 30.

At least we still have jobs, hopefully things turn around soon.

As long as we keep on having Babies I'll be OK ...

Wife should be OK as long as people keep getting sick, but she is back in College to help just in case her job get's cut...

I'm jobless and haven't found anything worth my time... I'm not going to work in a kitchen or for minimum wage... I'm picky....

By the summer though if I don't find something I will start getting desperate....

lol, by summer?!! thats a long way away kid
as for the OP, ehh it kinda sux, people dont want to put money in their cars anymore, so they just drive them till something detrimental happens, then they piss and moan about "this POS" bla bla bla, i just love showing them how, if they fixed this $50 problem last week then there wouldnt be this $500 repair today..........its actually sad whats on the road these days. theres cars ive made the customers drive out of the shop after they've declined repairs. on the flipside though, people cant afford new cars so SOME actually fix their pos :)

I know summer is a long way away... luckily I don't spend much while I'm at school... everything is paid for.

Umm take what you can get...it could get worse.

Same at my brothers shop...drive them untill they pop, then bit@h, people dont want to spend money.

I am down to 36 hours...half the machine shop is layed off, we are sending guys with 25 years experience to the night shift.
People are unhappy....making it a $hity workplace.

Plan is to go down to 30 hours in Feb if work is still dry.
I will have to cut bills if that happens....cell...cable....try to hang on to the net. for as long as I can.

O well I got a job, and will be one of the last to go, plus with people being broke I can scratch up all my pennies and find my black gen2 LSC :D

Yeah, I got told that two people in my department are going to be cut by July 1. That's not a very nice surprise and I work in IT for a school district.

I don't think I could agree with you more on this statement.
It's NOT going to get better anytime soon, in fact, it's going to get worse. We're talking YEARS before any significant recover.

I'm good as long as trees keep growing into power lines. With the ice storm today the next couple weeks could be busy.

We did have layoffs in Nov/Dec 08 (took our budget money and gave it to some other dept). Went from 71 men to 9. Luckily I'm #4 on the seniority list.

Good luck to all in this f%*@ked up economy.

Eh. I think obama will do decent.

Though, he's been in office for 7 days now and i'm still unemployed. IDK wtf he's waiting on
