which years are the most reliable the 93-96 or the 97-98 with the COP?
out side of engine failure, how long will these motors run for with proper tune ups and oil changes?

A lonnnng time with proper maintenance.

Mine has 127k on it and it's darn strong. I plan on doing a compression test soon to see where we're at there, but I don't think I have much to worry about.

I had the head off of mine with 130k and the cross marks were still visible from honing.

sold my white 93 with 475,000 4 years ago and still running strong, see it every now and then.my 97 has 204.000,still strong but i need to replace v/c gasket my #6 coil is getting oil on it.

Yeah, its all about proper maintenence. These cars seem to snowball when you let a problem go too long without attention!

There was a Free download CD floating around sometime back, don't know what happened to it...

Well between the 4 marks ive owned, and 1 crown vic, ive probably put about 150k miles on the 4.6 motor. Not the same motor, but the 4.6 nonetheless. lol.

I have seen them go 300k stock.

About 140k on my Vic before I sold it which was a former marked car and beat the piss out of it.

My Mark has a bad head gasket at 85k though. Mostly the mod motors are pretty solid and run a long time. I've been in plenty of NYC cabs that have 200-300k miles.

My 96 LSC's compression ranged from 138-144ish at 180k. I just crossed 190k and it still pulls hard - without any serious engine mods.

And my stock 95 will still catch the occasional sleeping GSX off guard, at 170k.

My 95 made it to 360K before it chunked a pad from the timing chain tensioner.

The motor still ran, and when we pulled it apart it also still had the cross hatch in the cylinder.

The motor will be the last thing to go.
I'm at about 225k now, the engine itself is one of the few original parts.

heres my lower end when it was at 148k now im 163 :)

my car has 174,000 with the original motor AND transmission--- all thats been done to both is fluid swaps.

Over 206,000 miles so far.

I've owned it since it had 150k on it and the engine is still quiet.
