Lets see those high mileage LS'es! Post your miles and what you've fixed/replaced.

Who has the most miles?

My 03 has 186k, picked it up with this many, replaced plugs, coils, catalytic converters (on their way this week) and most likely the whole cooling system.

No cats on it right now, but she's running like a champ. As far as I can tell, drives and shifts perfectly as well!

My moms LS years ago had over 208k IIRC, but was a pile of crap. Barely ran and drove, couldn't accelerate faster than a snail otherwise it would go crazy and stall out. I think it was a 2000 or 2001, and it was a V8. Shifting into drive or reverse felt like the car was hit by a train each time.

293,376 as of right now. Gets to 100 mph quickly, lots of fun to drive. (manual transmission) Have replaced a few parts along the way, engine cooked last year due to water pump impeller falling off in 90 degree highway traffic. Otherwise, at 276K when that happened, it was running great and was clean inside with no internal sludge buildup. Used Mobil1 for the entire time I've had it.

Welcome to vBulletin forums, where the search result order is made up and the terms don't matter

I'll play along......

2000 V8 Sport just rolled 90K miles.

Hand to God I searched 3 different times for a "how many miles" thread for the LS and results did not yield ANY of those!

/feelinglikeanidiot!

All good... couldnt resist though...

My last LS ended with ~175k (IIRC) Original motor, trans, and degas! (and was still faster Hite's LS).

Haven't gotten to high mileage yet. My 04 V6 has 139K and my 03 V8 has about 77K now. No serious problems and I'd trust either car on long trips.
The cooling system problems haven't happened to me because I run unpressurized systems on all my vehicles.
Very dependable cars when you eliminate that cooling system problem that a high percentage seem to encounter.

... and here we go again with this lovely story.

No,I'm done. Just letting some people know there is a way around a lot of cooling system troubles. don-ohio :)^)

Not A way... YOUR way... And one not used by anyone in the automotive industry.

HaHahaaa! It's my way ON the highway....................too bad people get stuck replacing all that plastic junk because of 16 psi constantly pushing on it. Not saying the plastic doesn't rot, but if you KNOW there's a problem and you don't want to spend hundreds of bucks on it RIGHT NOW or suffer that breakdown, there is an alternative.
My wife's out there today driving in 90-95 degree heat and you betcha running the air on MAX.LOL! UNPRESSURIZED, and proud of it! don-ohio :)^)

If you need more information on why its a good idea to run unpressurized, you can reach Don at:

Wife's driving the 03 V8 UNpressurized LS to Cincy and back today in this heat. I won't even have to check the coolant when she gets back. It seems the DE-GAS bottle does a WONDERFUL job of letting very little evaporation take place.

All the while, I don't have to worry about blown water pump seals, plastic pipe leaks ,radiator leaks, etc. like the some of the rest of you that haven't replaced your parts yet.LOL! Just run 60-65 % antifreeze and you'll need no pressure to break your parts. If you're running in the high elevations, I'm afraid you'll have to run the common 16 lb. and take your chances.

Drove my LS in Phoenix 110+ heat numerous times totally pressurized with not a single failure.

And if unpresurized is such a panacea why can't it done at elevation??

Mine has that leak, but I believe on mine it's the valve cover gasket. Maybe yours is that cover plate though?
One of these days I'll get to it. One thing is,I run synthetic oil to discourage ignition of the oil, plus it's just better oil. don-ohio :)^)

Maybe you should try an unpressurized oil system?

Ok so what's this unpressurized stuff about I'm running Full syntactic

Antonio, if you are well off and can afford to replace your cooling system plastic parts when the pressure and disintegration cause them to leak, don't worry about it. If you're like me and you don't like blowing radiator hoses, plastic parts, radiators, water pumps and the like, then richen your coolant ratio from 50/50 to 60/40, loosen your DE-GAS cap, and you'll avoid all that hassle with destructive pressure.
These guys are AFRAID to try it,being book-readers and purists. They'd rather see a person have to spend a bunch of money on cooling parts than let them enjoy their driving experience like I have. I've run it and all my friends, family run it this way and no problems.

You're good to go then,Antonio. You can opt to run pressure or Unpressurized as you see fit.Doing a proper bleed of the cooling system is what's important now. don-ohio :)^)

There is a whole lot of miles on this feud. LOL. I'd say probably 2.8 million miles.
