i was just wondering how many people have ruined their factory cd player from putting in burnt discs. i was doing this for a while and then one day..."CD ERROR" like the discs were stuck. im curious cause i might be looking for another factory player to replace it.

thanks

Burned cd's shouldn't cause a CD failure. However, if your burned cd has a label, that could be a problem, it could come off or make the disc too thick to eject properly.

worst a burned cd will do, if there is no label, is to not be readable. the only physical contact with the cd (once its inserted into player) is the spindle. the pickup head is all optical, and does NOT touch the cd in normal circumstances.

Infact, many low volume comercial cd's are actually burned, not stamped like high volume discs, so therefore a burned cd should not cause a problem with a player, other than not being readable for some reason.

There are some recordable cd's that have a anti-scratch layer on them that make them alittle thicker than a normal, and i know its not recommended to use a sharpie on them, but there is no reason why a home burnt cd would ruin a factory cd player. Any kind of label as stated above is also a perfect cause for a home burnt to get stuck.

I think it is the equipment.....my 94 cd player (factory 10 disk) did cd error twice......in 96, I didn't have one burnt cd all were bought and nothing done to them, Lincoln put new 10 disk changer in it....2 years later - cd error! warranty over....changer stayed that way!

Current factory 96 10 disk cd changer will not read burnt cds at all, no error msg comes up, just goes past it.

Hey Hotties I've got 2 holders (cartridges) 10 disk each if anyone is interested one side load one front load.
