Chris

Hey JC, this is what I got from my cd manual:

'01 V6 Engine oil capacity (with filter change) 6.5 Liters = 6.9 Quarts

So 7 is good... Looks like they cleaned your car OUT!!!!! Which is a good thing.

Wow... the V6 holds more oil than the V8? Where the heck are they hiding it? The V8 does take 6 with a filter change doens't it in '00??

Actually just got the offical word from my FLM dealership that 6 quarts is the max on all FLM cars and that 7 quarts is only on the new Ford F-150. SO you V-6 owners I wouldnt try dumping 7 in. 7 quarts maybe the maxuim capacity of the car.

OhioLS, you might be right, but that 7 quart statment was taken right outta the manual. I thought it was one quart to much, but since I got a V8, I didn't think that much of it. Since the manual was specifically for the 01 LS I'm just going off of that..

But if the FLM dealer says 6, then jcavz24x use 6.. wouldn't want to be swimmin in oil :)

My Lincoln dealer had my V8 listed as a V6 in their computer and when they changed my oil they put 7 quarts of 5w20 in it. I had to drain a quart out to have the right level. Check your owners manual it says 7 quarts for v6 and 6 quarts for v8 with filter change. If I had a v6 I would use 7 quarts as the manual says. The Ford dealership does not know everything about Lincolns.

Try putting in six and look at the dipstick. You will be ~a guart low. Most dealerships don't know oil from gasoline!!

BTW, it's 6.9 for the "sport" models (as they have an oil cooler), and ~6.5 for the non-sports. I regularly put 7 in my 2 V6 LS's (with a filter change, of course) and the oil level is right at the top mark on the dipstick.
