Keep hearing all this bad news in the media. I haven't heard anything on here....so...How are you doing LVC? Anyone fall victim to layoffs? Anyone worried? Are we all doing well here? I'm curious!!!

I work in manufacturing things are slow.
Any screw machine work is completely gone.
The cnc work is there but slow and low profit margin.

It has been this way for a couple months.
There are plans for layoffs if it continues into mid Jan.
You can only keep people busy cleaning and organizing things for so long.

I am in touch with other shops and they have had layoffs already.
Just today I am hearing about a few jobs for the screw machines form the sales Dept.

Keeping my fingers crossed here.

Hey Brent! Good to "hear" from you.

The large corporate "box" I am employed by, has let go of many people. My dept. keeps missing the ax. Though I am reminded on a daily basis that can change.

I am not worried for the job. The position is pretty much house specific. The responsibilities and schedule have scared off many auditors/re-engineering groups from suggesting "out sourcing" or even "out tasking" the work.

However, the location is getting long in the tooth and who knows if a new, updated location is in the future? That, and how it may impact my current duties and work/life balance?

Eh, my crystal ball is cloudy on that one.

hey Brent,
Thanks for the thoughts! I work at Ford at the truck plant. I've been laid off since early December and we are scheduled to go back Jan. 26. it sucks but SO far we still have our 'sub pay' that makes up the difference between unemployment pay and 85% of our regular pay.

They are rebuilding the plant to begin building the Navi and expedition. Trying to use the time to do a couple of projects to keep my Mark looking good and running a little better! ABS sensor, VCRM replacement and a repaired grill I'm trying to customize a little, oh and rattle can repaint the bumper covers.

Ford Nut: Good luck to you. Hopefully the layoffs don't come.

Torque: I browse the site every day, haven't been posting much I didn't even realize! I suppose moving is better than losing, butthat would suck. AZ is nice.

jd: good to know you'll be going back. hopefully sales of those vehicles rebound a bit. They are better than ever really. Good luck.

Myself, I am not too worried about my job, but I see cutbacks all around so we all have our fingers crossed. It would be tough if my department lost someone, but at least I feel safely employed.
