hub centric ring??needed??

I recently ordered new rims and got them installed a local tire shop since I was buying the tires there.......
When I was getting them installed I was told that where I ordered the rims from was missing some hub centric rings and made it sound like the wheel was goanna wiggle loose if I didn’t have these on.....but he installed them anyway and said it should be fine. (??????)
I asked him if I could buy them from there and he said to buy them from where I get the rims at.

I tried emailin the place I got the rims, no reply yet so if it wasn’t a big deal I was goanna forget it but I don’t want my new rims fallin off, :eek: :eek: so is this something i need?

I needed the hub ring when i installed aftermarket rims on my T-bird you can get it the same place where you got your wheels or any other place where they sell rims. the wheels that you put on would have play within the hub area also the ring would keep it snug around the hub area so that you wouldn't have play at all.
 
i sell rims and tires, the ring centers the wheel. if your lugs center the wheel, then you dont need them as much, but if the grooves where the lugs meet the wheels have alot of extra space, "the beveled area have a lot of play" then you will definitely need them, if you cant find any, let me know. maybe i can refer you to a wheel dealer that has them in your area.
 
A hub centric wheel, or rings, are only "necessary" when the wheel uses flat lug nuts, like my '97 F-150 had. If the wheel has a tapered lug seat, then hub centric rings are not "needed". They will make installation easier, but after the lug nuts are tight, the tapered seat centers the wheel.

Their are baccarat passion (black) 20x8.5 (i know, i know, they are too big and weight too much and u guys dont like them but i do)
I am not sure what beveled is but they are in circle shape around the wheel, but not made only for this bolt pattern they have other holes for other patterns also....

He showed me where the ring was supposed to be and there was a significant gap there......
 
Oh, i dident know you would have those type of rims......

I was waiting till I got it painted till I posted pics but I guess that not gonna happen anytime soon now.....ha-ha
So ill post some this weekend

But since ur a dealer can I buy the rings from you?
 
You should always use rings, regardless of the centering ability of the lug bores. Your wheel will be a lot more stable that way. Your hubs resist the loads placed on the wheel alot better than the lugs.

Even the cars that have centering lugs and bores have hubcentric wheels.
