Many of you heard about the hurrican that hit us down here in Texas. Pictures are worth a thousand words.

Anytime you have to build your house on stilts that should tell you something.

That's the way it is here near the coast. A lot of these houses survived hurricanes in the past. Ike was a mean mother.

the problem with IKE was not the category, but how massive in size it was and how tightly wound it was, because of its size it raised hell over the gulf causing massive waves which lead to such a horrible storm surge. people who live in a slice of paradise are well aware of the problems that come along with it, i take the chance where i live too, less than a mile from the western gulf coast of florida, but im not going to leave because i know what could happen, its a chance we all take to live where we live, i feel sorry for all the texans who had to go through this, someday it could very well be me too.
