I bought a 2000 3.9l a few months ago and it has an electric fan conversion. The other day I noticed fluid leaking under the car. It seems to be leaking from behind the hydraulic pump. My question is...Do I need fluid in this system even though I have an electric fan? Will it cause trouble anywhere else?
Thanks
Tony

If you run the pump dry, it'll burn up and seize, which will kill your serpentine belt in minutes (or seconds). V8s can remove the pump entirely and use a shorter belt, though

Also, there are two pumps. One for the power steering, and the other for the fan. Are you sure it's the fan one?
