What kind of setup is this why would they do that? I have to top off my fluid what would you recomend? is it ATF? should i remove old and replace with new or just top off? thanks

very common setup in Jaguar and such. They moved away from it in 03

I use the dexron-iii/mecron ATF that you can buy anywhere.

I wouldn't worry about flusing it - top it off.

They moved away from it in 03:
- the pump setup used some hp to turn it
- the hose going from the pump to the fan was problematic
