I am looking for a specific year and model Airstream motorhome. On-line sales of trailers is limited as many owners of '79 Airstreams are much older folks and are not terribly web-saavy. RV sales tend to be local but I'm willing to pay to ship the RV from just about anywhere in the continental US. The problem is in finding one.
There are RV classified ad books available in most grocery stores, at no charge. I'm looking for a barn-find, pristine, 1979 Airstream Excella 280 or 240, 28-foot or 24-foot respectively. This model was the only year that Airstream used aircraft Alclad aluminum that can be highly polished, like my Royal Spartanette. There were 2,600 made that year so I'm sure there's one out there just waiting for me. There are many of them still out there.
If you all would kindly peruse the RV magazines in your local, and post your leads, I would certainly appreciate it. I would gladly pay a finder's fee for the right toy.
This is what they look like. The polished one is a 24-footer and the dull one is a 28-footer. When left outdoors the polished surface will dull quickly. Many owners painted their RVs to prevent further maintenance. I would prefer a dull original finish but I could deal with a painted coach, too.
