well the Kenwood DDX7015 double din stereo that i bought on ebay used for $700. doesnt work.. the preouts are producing alot of noice i get a display but the sound is horrible the installer got one of his new units same brand and type and connected it and it made no noice.. now my question is what do i do to get my money back? i spent $270 on the install, the $700 on the HU and i really dont know the value of my OEM indash 6cd changer stereo but that got cut up to fit the kenwood......again what should i do what are my options? the installer was really cool and said that he would send the HU to kenwood to see if they could warranty it as if it was theirs but that seams really unlikely to happen. if that doesnt go thru then he said that maybe they could send it to a shop to repair it but then i would have to pay those costs....

If you paid with Paypal and it wasn't more than 30 days ago you can file a dispute with them. But first, I would try contacting the seller and see what he'll do for you.
Just be sure not to get too hung up in that and let the Paypal 30 days go by. You can close a Paypal dispute at any time.

But, If you're Joshluvsla on eBay too, it looks like you bought this a long time ago. If alot of time has gone by, I don't think that you can reasonably expect the seller to do anything.

Did you get any buyer protection plan thru ebay and was it recent w/i the last few days? Contact ebay asap and see what they tell you may make any warranty from them invalid if you attempt to service the unit before contacting ebay. If ebay is dry, see what the manuf. says

I have seen cases of ebay buyer/sellers in court, but very rare that they are close enough to do this.

I feel for you I got DQed! to the tune of about 2,000.on my MarkVIII. Hopefully more LVC guys can offer up more ideas/solutions.

Ms M

Contact the seller if he is a power seller he will might refund your money, i had a bad experience and the seller refunded my money.

im sorry to hear about your trouble man i hope it works out
i would like every one is say first try and contack the seller if he dose nothing then give him a bad um shoot what to they call that bad ratting let every one no what happend then see if you can despute it with ebay or somthing like that man

yeah thats what iam going to do iam going to dispute it with them first and if all else fails then take it to ebay and paypal......hope it works out at the end.....

Buy the same HU from a retailer, then return the busted one and say it didn't work. ;)

I bought an in-dash tv used off ebay for my truck about 2 years ago and had the same exact problems you are having. The installer ran a small amp, 60 watts I think, and it worked perfect after that.

Josh, you posted a reply on my thread about the correcting the engine noise in my new installation. If your installer hooked up a new Kenwood, and it worked with no noise, then something is definitely wrong with your headunit. Is it only when the engine is running? or is it all the time? If the noise only happens when the engine is running..then more than likely it is something fixable. Describe the noise to me. I will help you if I can. I found that one of my rca plugs coming from the back of the headunit was touching a metal bar behind the dash. This made all my noise. There were little plastic covers to put over each unused RCA jack and one had come off. It typically is a ground issue with engine noise. If all you have is engine noise, I probably wouldn't panic too much..it is probably fixable. email me at immusicman@hotmail.com if I can help anymore. thanks.

That's fraud...and you could...and probably should...be charged. They also have ways of preventing that now with date codes, etc.

Did you buy it "as is" from the seller? Did he advertise it as a good unit? Those are huge variables with this problem. Also, like has been said...has it been over 30 days? If so, I would guess your only option is to contact the seller and see what he will do for you. It's possible he will be willing to foot the repair bill...or at least split it with you. As to your other expenses, just chock them up to experience...you won't get a dime IMO. Have you left feedback yet? I have a 100% rating and I would do a lot to keep that...

How exactly did you pay? If you used your credit card to pay his paypal email you can file a dispute with Visa or Mastercard or whatever. They give you up to 6 months or 1 year and are very helpful.

well check it out guys i came in contact with her i belive and after a couple of emails this is what she said? do u think it would work?

Hi Joshua,
I know how you feel with auctions etc. I checked with my installers and they said that they did have issues with the pre-outs initally but were able to get around them by installing the digital dolby box. Then an optical cable connects the HU to the Dolby box with 5V Pre-outs. I was unaware this is how they got around it. I wanted the boosted pre-outs anyways so i was happy with the end results. As for what we can do, I can take the item back and give you a full credit of $700. But at this point i think you want it to work. We have 2 options. 1 to get this fixed, 2 buy the dolby box. I was just talking to a fellow on who has a Dolby box and may sell it. I can make an offer to him for this item. If he accepts, you will have the dolby unit, no cost. We would just need the optical cable as he damaged his. This is how my systems ran and the sound was clean as I was very picky. If you choose to just fix the unit, all I can offer is $100us towards the repair. I paid over $1300US for this and I sold this for half of that. Would that work with you? I definitely want this to work for you as it is a lovely unit.

thanks.... the noise when the car is off and running only with that unit...and the seller...look below said that she bearly became aware of it....

well i would say its just to mouch trouble give me my money back

yeah thats true but pay pal will charge a fee to receive money i think she should pay that plus the shipping right?

There is an option as a seller within paypal to Refund payments. I don't think this incurrs any fee at all for the buyer.

But, even if you do, if you can get this refund and only lose shipping and the paypal fee, I would consider you to be very lucky. When you ship this back, get insurance, delivery confirmation, signature required, all the bells and whistles. Because I'm sure you'll have to send it back PRIOR to the refund, so this will help cover you.

Also, start the paypal dispute process. Advise the seller that you must do this to get it in within the 30 day limit and that when you are satisifed, the dispute will be closed as resolved to your satisfaction. If you don't start this before 30 days are up, you are screwed. Stress to her that this will have no effect whatsoever on her eBay or Paypal reputations.

Sounds like she's willing to work with you and that is GREAT! Working it out with the seller is the best outcome you could hope for.

Good Luck,
Matt

off and running only? Do you mean when the car is running, or when its off? or both? If its when its running only, you can probably correct the problem with the dolby box. pull the headunit out and make sure the rca plugs are not touching each other and make sure they are not laying against anything metal. i.e. hold the headunit in your hand while hooked up and start the vehicle and see if the noise is still present. if it is..dobly box only..or seems like I have had some refer to a "ground converter" of some sort. Talk to your installer about that. good luck.
