I was in the 94 heading back to base, when at a stop light I pulled up next to a new camero. First one I have seen in town so I had to see what it could do. I knew it would beat me, but man! I had no idea they were THAT fast. They are pretty impressive, looks and performance.

Might win, but the V6 stats suggest it won't 'spank' - similar curb weight, slightly more HP but less torque.

No way to know until you run one.
 
Chevrolet rates the V6 Camaro at 6.1 sec 0-60 and 14.5 sec quarter mile - that's in the same ball park as a stock, good running, early gen 1.

On paper stats won't necessarily tell the full story anyway, have to run one to really draw a conclusion.

Nice looking car (in a cliche, cheesy way) - windows are too small though and the interior is bland.
 
Camaro, sorry. It was an SS, so yeah V8. I think I could take the V6 in my 97, but not the 94.
 
NICE! My dad and I wanted to go test drive the new camaro... they look amazing!

Freakin' GM junk! Wonder what the MK VIII would do with all those years of developement money? OH yeah...... blow the doors off and suck the headlights out when the new Lincoln MK XI coupe went by. Great when your stock has gone up from $.75 to $1.15 and we own the company as taxpayers.

for has for the most part always been slower than chevy
dont you remember that from about 1990 to 2002 they always would compare the Z28 to the cobra cause the ss would kill us I love my fords but a good race for the average mark is a 1997 v6 camaro with a stick
 
a 1997 V6 Camaro with a stick will be lucky to run high 15's... my 96 bone stock on old man touring tires ran a 14.93 with an average 2.2 60 foot time...

Yep. Another decade of R&D time and I would expect it to be faster.

I'll give it this: the Camaro will turn heads. Well, right now it does because there aren't many on the roads around here, but I'm sure just like the 2005 Mustang I will be sick of looking at them in about three months.

Probably a little slower since as you said it's probably heavier. The 3.9 isn't a bad motor for what it is. My LS(same chassis) is about 4000lbs with me in it and will do high 14s all day long.
