IS THERE ANYTHING GOING ON WITH REPLACING THE HEADLIGHTS WITH HID'S? FOR A GOOD PRICE. I HATE DRIVING AT NIGHT WHEN MY HIGH-BEAMS ARE DIMMER THAN EVERYBODY ELSES LOW BEAMS. HOPEFULLY I CAN GET SOME HELP. MY HEADLIGHTS= :bsflag:

see i should of listened to the people on the boards about the HID's! the very very first thing to do with a mark VIII without HID's is to go out a buy them. I like a idiot never listened to them. screw all the mods, getting this is by far the best mod for this car. save up and call Max @ Five Star Ford!

Do I Have To Buy A Whole Headlamp Assembly...like The Lens' Also. Or Just The Wire Harness, Ballasts And Bulbs? Thanks

I don't have a gen 1 but if your is hazy try a plastic cleaner on your headlamp. If your len is ok, all you need is the kit.

When you buy the HIDs, you get the bulb, ballast and new housing, I think these are running about 500 a side. An alternative to this is just replacing your halogen housings, I believe you can do this for around 400 total. This should give you light output that is similar to every other car on the road, the only bad thing is that in another 5-10 years you'll be in the same perdicament. Is your car going to still be a daily in another 10 years though?

Yeah, I Got My Headlamps Cleaned Really Good, They Look Like New. WHATS THE BEST PLACE TO GET THE KIT....I DON'T WANNA SPEND THAT MUCH ON THE HOUSING. THANKS FOR ALL OF THE QUICK REPLIES. :yourock:

The problem is inside the housing, the reflection material that is supposed to mirror the light back out to the road has burned up from the heat over the years; terrible design. On positive note, atleast your polished lights look good :p

The sucky thing is that their's really no cheap way out of it, thats why I drive with my highbeams on, and aimed them down a little...

Yeah Thats What I Do...i'm Guessing You Have The Stock Housing Also. I Just Ask Myself If It's Really Worth It...beacause I'm Not On The Road At Night To Much. For That Money I'd Rather Do Something To My Engine.

i bought my hid kit for my conti from xenonking.com. that was the lowest price i found on hid kits but you can search if you want.

Without a HID compatible housing or Projectors they are illegal and will blind oncoming drivers.

Thanks For All The Help......i'm Going To Decide Soon What I Should Do. Its Just So Expensive When I Could Do My Exhaust Or Something Instead.

I just got done buying new HID's reason for high price is b/c they need their owner transformer to run them and I spent $1070 b/c I work there. At Ford you can get them for $764 for just ONE. Unless you call Max he will be abal to get them with his discount for around $535 for one thats with his Ford discount. If you have Ford instal them it will be around $140 labor.
So ya good luck on your HID's.

I'm supprised it took this long to have this mentioned. Klutch is right.....PLEASE....don't try to jam a set of HIDS in the stock halogen housings. Your spending money for nothing as the reflective coating in side the housings is shot. Not only that, but the Bulb placement inside the housing does'nt work with the built in refractors that the lenses have. (You WILL bilnd people, along with having NO beam focus.)

If you fllow the links in my signature, and look at the menu to the left, you'll see the HID projector page. I have a set of HID projectors out of a VW golf glassed' in to them. To get them to work, I had to sand the inside of the lens down smooth and then work up to 2000 grit, and then polish them. I did a trial run with the D2S bulbs I have in the 95, and they worked spectacularly.(sp)

Let me know if something like that would interest you....I could whip up a set.

This is what the inside of your low beam reflector looks like. Notice the blackness, and the general lack of reflective material? Your loosing prolly a good 60% of your headlight beam. and youll do the same thing to the highs by running them all the time.

Since I have decided that re-wiring is my new project, I'll take b/f and after pics and let you guys know how it works out. This shouldn't cost more than $50.00 and should double the brightness of my headlights.
