I smoked a Nissan Sentra 1.8 yesterday - READ

Well that's nothing to brag about except my tranny is half dead with no 2nd or 5th gear so until I take into the shop I've been in SST starting in THIRD. I've been surprised how well the car still gets up and goes OK starting in third. This 16 year old in a sentra decides to gun it as we're pulling away from a light. I was so pissed to be in third gear but I got him just made me laugh. he gave me thumbs up at the next light, I wanted to tell him I didn't have 1st or 2nd but didn't have the heart.

if you are starting in 3rd take the car in before it gets worse

I know I need to take the car in again but what's the harm in starting in 3rd? I used it that way all winter...manual says it's ok??

probably cost yoruself more money to fix if u keep using it in 3rd probably when u take it in and they fix all the other gears and get it back then 3rd might go out. then it will be back in the shop. MO MONEY MO MONEY MO MONEY lol

If a physical GEAR or CLUTCH or BAND is out I'm going to get the whole thing rebuilt anyhow right? It's been a long time since I've seen anyone tear open an auto just to replace a gear or 2. since it's not getting worse I'm going to wait and see if the other user on this board's problem gets fixed with the solenoid pack.
