Hi I am new to this group! My name is Cary and since being a gearhead for many years I loved L/M division. I have had them since 1973.

I bought my first Lincoln town car (96) and got stranded 85 miles outside Albquerque on vacation on a sunday because of a design defect that Lincoln new about but never told me. The plastic intake manifold cracks behind the alternator and dumps out all the coolant. It almost caused a wreck at 75 mpg. What really ticked me off was that lincoln KNOWS it has a problem but wont tell you unless your a taxi/limo/police vehicle.

I wrote a scathing letter to daryl hazel VP of lincoln with not even an apology.
Now there is a class action lawsuit going on for owners to get paid for L/M's super screw up! they wonder why their market share is slipping?

What next? I cannot trust Lincoln any anymore with poor engineering and lack of customer care. I am now looking to replace the car with a foreign model with higher standards of customer care. I hate to do it but no way is my family going to be put in jepordy because of poor engineering and customer correspondance.

ALL motor companies do that. If the problem is gonna cost them ALOT of money to recall/replace they figure the money they MAY have to spend in lawsuits would be cheaper than recalling/replacing the part(s) that are wrong. Not to say that is good, but that is what happens in big companies. Sorry to hear that it happened to you, glad you were ok.

Oh.....:W to the LvC by the way.....hope you enjoy!!

sorry for the close call. That does really suck that they just kinda blew you off like that. It sounds like Lincoln's customer service isn't the greatest, but as was said already, when you get into big business you're not gonna find any company that's totally squeaky clean...sad as that is. If you've been a L/M fan for years, then I wouldn't give up on em just yet. But the VP should've at least put down the golf club long enough to have Jeeves pen out a coupon for a free air freshener for you.

Still.... :L
