Hear about this Geno? The processor is set at 3.33 and some have overclocked it past 6ghz.... ridiculous.
 
Eh. Cant use all that with windows lol, doesn't do me much good :(
 
Yeah Geno's box is a beast for sure.... but he just built it and anyone in their right mind would not drop another $1k to have this chip.
For such an extreme overclock I would not be supprised if they used some sort of liquid n2 cooling. That is the cooler of choice for those world record attempts.
This thing looks nice for sure, but it is not even offically out yet. Perhaps upon it's release it will drop the price of the first 3 chips and I can afford to buy one.
 
I'm just glad I got an entry level i7 in my computer that's on the way.
 
Where did you find the reference to 6+ ghz for the i765?

The only results I have found were here and indicate a peak of 5.26ghz at -50°C. While 6+ may be possible, I could not find reference to it on the net.
 
Some random website. I'd more trust the information that you found though.
 
I have mine at 4.5ghz oc stable on air. The 975 is a joke. Just wait for the Intel Sandybridge cpu. Thats the next gen crusher. Mine is an animal with 0 problems.
 
I was wondering how you were doing Geno. Glad to hear you are having no problems with it. Running XP Pro x64 I assume?
Have you been able to do any gaming yet?
 
Im on Vista Home Premium SP1 and LOVE it, no problems at all when you shut off all the Vista garbage. I have 1/2 Vista disabled! LOL!! OMG MAN Gaming, forget it. Im an assassin on COD4 now these guiys with lesser equip. are bitching Im cheating like I used to do when I couldnt hit them! LOLOLOL!! GOOD!!! LONG overdue!

I was on a 128mb card in the 6yr old PC and I was shooting people point blank only to findout they were already gone!! My card was seeing them AFTER I did which I couldnt believe until I got this animal. If you play COD4 my Name is "Your Dad" and I am always on the free for all games in the MVC (I think thats it) clan basic traing server. Its super fun KILLING the way I should have long ago!!

the new clock Im on with the cpu is great not too hot. I went a step up and the heat went NUTSO!! So Im good with where Im at. All my complaint about computers are gone, everything and I mean eveything is INSTANTANIOUS!! I mean faster then the blink of an eye, couldnt be happier.

The i7920 is a great bargain and will goto 3.2ghz safely.

That is the processor I have. However, I have never overclocked before and am nervous as to how to go about doing that. I have an MSI Eclipse SLI mobo which comes with an overclocking program and even seems to have some hardware overclocking capability? I have just never overclocked anything before and am very nervous about doing so.

But I am very pleased with the core i7 I have.

It fights TF2.

OMG the time wasted gaming....the fun never ends.
You get on a roll...look up...4 hours are GONE !

You can do it yourself but it's better if you know what you're doing.

If you've got a geek for a friend.... or find one on a web site, $20 should do.
 
Yea I duno how to overclock. Would it be alright with the stock fan and all that?

Not recommended, the stock fan will keep the stock setup cool. You need better cooling once you start over clocking or POP FIZZZ SIZZZLE SIZZZLE SIZZZLE, you'll release the magic smoke! Once the magic smoke is gone, it no work no more!
 
Yeah you need bog ole' Skyscraper coolers that are well lapped and good cfm fans. I have a whiole recipe if you need it for a WICKED rig. You could have done what I did for 1/2 the price by stepping down in video card, chassis, hd's and a 920 chip.
