I've searched the forum but didn't find any answer to my question, of what is the correct idle for 2002 Lincoln ls v8 with ac on. For some reason mines sit at the hash mark before you get to the one at idle no A/C and with the a/c running

no there's no problem I guess I just don't notice the hand move like my other car when the a/c is on it ramps up to the 1 on the rpm dial was wondering if the ls was the same way.

I started to say no (it doesn't change idle with the AC on), but then I realized that I have never had the AC off, so I don't really know. (Why would you turn if off?)
Anyway, the PCM does know when the AC is on or off (it has direct control of the clutch) and it also knows when the power steering is being used, so it can adjust engine idle as needed. I think that it just compensates for the added load, so that the idle speed doesn't fall (rather than increasing it).

I turn mines off from time to time because I'm not to fond of how it controls the temp in the car so I tend to turn it off when it's cooler out.

as for the idle numbers was just wondering if it ramped up much or at all when the a/c is running verses not running.

Cause I notice a strong dip in rpm when I turn the wheel at a complete stop or when I turn the a/c on at idle.

I don't notice any drop when I turn the wheel. Maybe your boost sensor is bad? Do you have a scan tool that can trigger the KOER self test?

normally I don't get a drop in RPM unless the wheel is turned to full lock, then there is a slight drop. so slight that it would never concern me.

Yes I have a scan tool that can trigger the KOER self test.

what should I be looking for in the test.

During the test, you have to cycle the AC on and off, and turn the steering wheel enough to stress the power steering pump. At the end of the test, you'll get a failure indicated for the power steering boost switch if it didn't correctly trigger.

My 02 V8 idle control isn't perfect. It'll surge/sag a little (~200 rpm briefly) when stressed (A/C first engages, turning hard, etc). My working theory is the IAC isn't quite perfect.
It's been like this since I got the car in '10, so it may just be an attribute of the Gen 1 V8.

Ok well my problem turned out to be more advanced then the boost was changing passenger side inner tie rod cause it was bent slightly pulled boot off and it had fluid inside off it so looking to replace the rack now.

The good part is on the v8 its right there. Pretty simple swap.

And the new one I have ordered comes with the evo control on it.
