My buddy comes into work monday morning and tells me he drove a brand new Shelby GT500 over the weekend and i was going to be mad. I had to ask why.
His friend owns a junkyard nearby and was recently called upon by Ford to take care of a "flooded parking lot". They arrived while the water was still high and were told "if water is touching it, it is going to be crushed". That's right, crushed. They are crushing roughly 130 brand new Fords with the window stickers still on them. The Shelby still had dry carpet and 11.2 miles on it when they towed it away. Ford is overseeing the disposal and NO PARTS CAN BE REMOVED!!!! It was crushed, along with 29 other cars and trucks, on Monday morning. Sticker on this one was $62k.
Among the first batch were:
4 Mustangs (1 shelby, 2 gt, 1 V6)
1 F350 king ranch dually diesel
2 Explorers
several Rangers
and a lot of fusions, focus's, and fiesta's
They wouldn't sell them with a salvage title because they get full price from the insurance co. The JY owner tried to save some of these cars, to no avail.
WTF!!??:bash:
