My #2 ignition coil finally died today prompting my check engine light to come on. Autozone read the code with a handheld code reader and sold me a coil.
After installation all my driveability problems disappeared. Hurrah!
How can I turn the check engine light off?

Take it back to Autozone and have them erase it for you with the same scanner.

couldn't you unplug the battery too

Unplug the battery for 5 minutes it will reset. That works with pretty much any car.

Didnt work for my 02 Mustang GT, left the battery unplugged overnight and the code never left. The dealership forgot to clear it and i picked it up after hours, i had to return the next day and they cleared it.
