Well not knoew but anyways, my wife called me at work and said the car wouldnt start. 01 V8, so I had her push on the shifter handle and then try nothing, so the next time shetried she pushed in the key and it turned over. The thing is that it hasnt done it since. So anyhelp or further information would be great. Thanks Again

I'm not trying to be a smartass here I'm sure that I just don't understand your question, but
1.yes putting the key into the ignition helps start most cars
2. If thats not what your saying then maybe your ignition switch has a loose connection and needs a little force to make the contact to start the car. Check for loose connections under the dash. The switch itself could be faulty.
3. Or was your post a joke and I just made an ass of myself?

I'm not very clear on what you are saying. Can you give some more and clearer details.

I think you are saying.
My wife tried to start the car and it would not crank. She called me (from the car?) and I suggested that She try to push or move the shifter into park (assuming Automatic trans!!). Then when she tried to start the car again it cranked and fired.

If the above is correct the important questions to ask yourself are.
1. Is the shifter really going to park every time?
2. It the Shifter interlock mechanism working properly?
3. Is the gear indicator module funtioning properly?

And maybe more or other stuff if you give us some more details.
