I have figured why WASHINGTON seems to IGNORE the immigration problem.
Here it is. We all know that EUROPE has been overrun with MOSLEM immigrants. THE REASON WE DON'T "REALLY TRY" TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM WITH THE MEXICANS,,WE KNOW THAT "AT LEAST" THEY'RE CHRISTIANS!! WE HAVE TO HAVE IMMIGRANTS,,BUT WE'D RATHER HAVE CHRISTIANS. MOSTLY THEY ARE A HARD WORKING CARING PEOPLE THAT LOVE THEIR FAMILIES.

...it's not really an either or issue.

There are a few reasons why Washington, D.C. and government in general is so dismissive of the illegal aliens.

1- Corporate interests that enjoy exploiting the cheap 'slave labor.'
2- Unions which are withering away, want to add them to the roles to increase the dues, increase their political power. AND if Obama doesn't come through with socialized medicine, these foreign born members will be necessary for the organization to be able to pay their benefits to the retired workers.

3- to get them on public assistance and loyal to the Democrat party, thereby securing their power for the next century.

Europe is in a catch-22, it NEEDS the immigrant populations because their native population is getting old and dying off. Their birth rates are too low, there aren't enough native workers to support the socialist systems that are in place. Without the huge influx of North African and Eastern Europeans, the countries economies would have crashed already.

THAT..and the illegals keep the crime rate up, thus keeping the government and law enforcement justifying how they are trampling on all our rights under the guise that they are protecting us.

Just like the stupid "drug war", just like any other current day WAR the US is involved in, they are more concerned about keeping the war ALIVE thus justifying their positions, rather than "winning the war".

it's all red white and blue bullcraaaaap

No, that's not why either.

It's all about money. You call say a million reasons, but they all boil down to money.

well that's your opinion and your welcome to sit on it.. if you like.

I dont agree, and there is very little that you could say from Sarasota Florida which is gonna make my outlook from a "border state" any different.

You dont get the crime associated with illegal immigrants that we get here in Texas.

You have a couple of boatloads of cubans every so often.

We've got 10's of thousands of illegal immigrants WALKING into Texas every year... no boat required.

I agree with this.

If they wanted to "end it" it'd be easy.

you have to stop the demand, before the supply will cease.
no demand, no supply..that's been said many many times over the years.

SO...Why not "end the demand"?

if the US allowed consenting adults to grow their own, a reasonable amount for personal consumption, there would be ZERO demand for seed laden, chemical ridden, BS weed from Mexico.

We certainly don't get the border crime that is plaguing the South-West, but we do get much of the organized and petty crime. After they get through Texas, they often would drive straight to Florida- especially in the 90s and 00s during the huge construction boom in this state.

But, to be clear, I'm not disputing that illegal aliens bring an increase in crime with them. I agree with that completely. However, that's not one of the political motivations. It's a byproduct. The high crime is a political liability.

If this were about empowering law enforcement... then we'd actually see law enforcement empowered to go after issues related to the illegal alien trade, but we don't- for the reasons I pointed out before.

This post doesn't address whether federal law enforcement is accumulating power or not, it's just a separate issue.

I think Washington just simply does not care. They figure the positives outweigh the negatives.
