ok so i did a lot of searchin on this because this is my first install on a car with a factory amp.

i have a 95 sts, and have decided to use the line converter on the rear speakers, so i have a few questions.

1. when i use the line convereter do i just splice it into the rear speakers, or completely disconnect the rear speakers.

2. what wire should i hook up the REM slot on the amp too. do i still go back to the stock stereo? and does anyone know exactly what color or stripe this wire is?

oh yeah, and this will be 3 jl audio 12" subs with a 1600W audiobahn amp.

thanx

I used to have a 95 sts a while back, i loved the car, but when it came time to trying to upgrade the factory bose setup, its a real pain in the butt. I actually had to rewire my whole sound system, its not to hard to do, just time consuming, cause you have to run new wires to each speaker. anyhow if you just wanna add a few subs, you could just use the rca line converters how you plan. Personally, i think 3 JL 12"s is gonna be way to much bass for the factory highs. Even the JL W0s putout some deep bass. As far as the remote wire goes, youd have to find a signal source from the harness. i dont remember which wire to use because i put an aftermarket panasonic deck in mines. Possibly the ignition wire would work, but then ur amp would be on constant until you turn the car off. Depends on how your running the subs and at what ohm, because if your runnin em too low, your amps gonna get hot quick and you dont want the amp on constant if thats the case. So, youdhaveto run a wire from the amp to the harness, which is in the trunk any how.

^ hey thanx man, yeah the 12's will be lots of bass, but i am just tryin to sell the car, and i need to get rid of the 12's anyways, so i did the line converter already, it was pretty easy, it was hard as hell to get the battery wire on tho, now i just have to figure out what wire i wanna use on the stereo, thanx for the help man.

and as far as the amp overhearting, it has a fan, so it wont be too bad of a problem.

hey, i tried every singe wire on the harness, and none of them seem to work. some of them would work, but it would be on constant, and when the stereo is off they are just constantly pounding, and when its on, even when its turned down all the way, the subs are pounding.

so i just tried using the rear speakers as the wire for the remote, and it works, but the subs are gettin no power, they are working, but i think just off the stereo and the amp is not pushing them at all.

where is the factory amp, and maybe i can look for the remote source there, and splice into that.
