I'd like to but.......after reading all the info pertaining to R & R the sensor and thinking about doing the procedure I have just a few questions: Is it fairly straight forward? I know about loosing the belt and taking the 3 bolt loose (w/o taking the bolts out)and moving the compressor aside w/o breaking the a/c lines to access the sensor.....Is that all there is?......Is there a danger of cracking/breaking a line on the compressor?......Had a talk with my friendly local mechanic and he wouldn't do the R & R unless the a/c system was evac'd. Well, I don't want to do that because his labor manual calls for 3 hrs @ about $85 an hr:confused:.......I'd appreciate any encouragement you can give me. Bruce.....Senior Citizen

Ive done a couple, it is not really a big deal, you are not going to damage the ac lines-your mechanic probably moves ac compressors out of the way all the time doing all sorts of repairs, it is rarely necessary to evacuate and remove an ac compressor to do a repair OTHER than an AC system component replacement. I too am a senior citizen. As I recall, some bolts are easier to get from up top. Just do it, really not difficult.

First off......Thank you for the reply. I was beginning to wonder if anyone was going to......I just needed some reassurance this is not too bad of a job......So thank you again mikemark8 for stepping up to the plate with the encouragement I needed. I now know I can do the R&R.Bruce....Senior Citizen.

bhans, it is a straight forward task that I have done twice and I am well into my seventh decade on the planet. You can do this - Gray Power

Haven been on the forum in a while and felt like I should say, get a Ford sensor, don't buy any crap from China or auto zone or any other place get a Ford sensor, been there done that. It's a tight area but it isn't the worst either.just be glad Lincoln left an abundance of extra room in the engine compartment.lol. good luck

my new motorcraft crank sensor lasted 1 year. my new autozone sensor lasted 1 year, was cheaper, and had a lifetime warranty. i'm still on autozone sensor #2.
