installing fuel pump

Not to sound like an asshat, but if you would have done a search you would have come up with this post that I posted a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time ago, and have linked to it quite a few times......:shifty:

I don't think it should be too bad. I've never changed the fuel pump, but I have had the tank down when I had to change my transmission. You'll need to jack up the rear end, and loosen the straps that hold the tank up. Before you can do that though you'll need to remove the back half of your exhaust, just remembered. Hopefully for you, if there is a god you don't have to much gas in your tank. Another tip is when I lowered the tank on mine, I used I think a 2x6 that was wider than the car, and used the floor jack on the wood. This made it so there wasn't really one pressure point on the tank, it was equally balanced.

Good luck...

Edit: Nice writeup Ray, beat me to the punch!

How much noise do you guys get from the 255 lph? I'm pretty sure I can hear the fuel returning from the engine.

Well, when I was driving my car I could not hear much cause of my system that is in the car, and I listen to it at HIGH volumes. BUT, when I did turn the system off, I could hear the pump. Not that bad, but if I had the radio off it would get on my nerves quickly. However, I think that the rubber barrier around the pump slipped off and it is allowing the pump to vibrate in the metal bracket that it sits in in the first gen Mark. :shifty:

I don't hear the motor, or a high pitched tone from the gas tank, but I think I hear the fuel flowing. It's sort of gravelly sounding. I assumed it was the return system, sending the unused fuel back to the tank.
