I removed the Air intake Baffle on my car ( at least i think thats what its called, the box connected halfway up the intake tube). is there any consequences to having it off (hole plugged of course)?
As long as you're drawing air through the air filter it will just make a sucking noise when you push on the gas. Depending on what year your car is you may find a drivability issue or even lose horsepower because the computer isn't programmed to handle the extra air.
It's just a resonator. I take it you have a 98+
Removing it won't have any adverse effects to the PCM or driveability so long as the hole is plugged!! (in which case it would suck in unmetered air)
THe only thing you will notice is a little more air intake noise.
cool, thanks for the info, i did plug the hole with a ford power steering resevoir cap( from the old models). It fit (and sealed) nicely, and i used a hose clamp around it just in case. just had to cut off the dip stick and the two clamp things on the cap itself. sounds nice, although i have a K&N so it wasn't a big change. also I noticed it accelerating a little differently, but i think that's placebo effect on my part.
