intake filter questions

i got the kkm intake filter with the maf adapter, could i go to like pep boys and buy a bigger filter, u think id get more power?

I have the KKM from Ken it works fine as far as HP goes.
My only question is when I push it a lilttle bit the can gets extremely HOT.
What can I do to fix this problem?
