Well, I installed my new kkm intake for my 02 v6.. and is anybody using a hot air shield?, would it help for better performace?

it should - the shields are not nearly as effective as a sealed box - but every little bit counts.

gotta make one - like everything else....

ohh i c... well thanks.. for the tip.. i have a metal box, i guess im just going to make a vent through it and fit it into the intake.... so did the box help out on performace?.. since i really didnt notice any gains from the intake.. i live in sunny california.. and it gets hot here..

the vent on the top of the box mates to the hoop scoop.

it made 3rwhp increase on the dyno - probably more on the street with real air rushing in.

you can do what loveLSE did, which is what I did in version 1 of my setup, and place a tube coming from your lower grill up and under the filter - then enclose it in a box.

heat shield

I just put a heat shield on mine.....look at my garage pics I got mine on e-bay for like $13.00 it is a universal heat shield and I have the same intake you just got

ey.. looks good... ima try that instead of making a complicated box.. but i still like lovelse's idea of reusing the top intake box..

thanks 00LS5spd.
I think I'll have to get one of those.
up here in seattle we had few weeks of rain.
so everytiem it rained, I worried about water wetting the filter.
but so far, water hasnt made its way up the tubing.
I think the gooves on the tubing helps to retain the water.
but I'll definitely have to do something to prevent it 100%.
Im thinking of getting two of those heat shield.
chop one of them to cover the bottom (just enough to prevent any water)
something like this,
what do you think?

heat shield

I think that would work well the heat shield has three tabs that fit under the metal screw clamp that hold the intake to the aluminium piece that bolts to the MAS. I bet you could take a pair of tin snips or another cutting tool(dremal) and cut the second heat shield down to size then use the remaining tab to secure it to the clamp. Or you could cut an "L" shape cut and leave all three tabs to secure to the clamp.
