Does anybody make an intake tube that will fit the 2005 LS V8? I don't want a cone filter setup and want to keep the drop-in filter, however, I do want to eliminate all the sound baffling crap that sits behind the grille and is connected to the intake. Similar to removing the intake silencer on the Ford Taurus if anybody is familiar with that....thanks. I checked LSK but they only have them for 2002's and I don't want the cone filter setup that they sell for the 2005's.

Yeah, whats wrong with the cone filter set up? It looks sweet!

You can just cut those silencers and close the holes with something if you want to keep your stock intake set up. The cone filter sounds great when you go 3/4 throttle. You can hear the engine sucking in air and when you get on it, it's a great roaring sound.

Is the K&N one similar to the KKM one sold on LSK as the KKM still keeps all the intake sound baffling which I want to eliminate.

The KN kit comes with a tube, filter, heat shield.

The sound repressors are eliminated.

Yeah get the cone filter, my average mpg dropped by .5 but it sounds awesome.

knn is a nicer set up, kmm is just the cone filter with the adapter but no smooth tube to replace the stock one.

My K&N, there is also a polished metal tube available. ( Don't mind my SCT badge lol, atleast its under the hood :p )

How much better is the K&N versus the kkm??

I just got the kkm cause it was cheaper.

The kkm isnt cheap, and very high quality.

Its not one of those cheap $20 fleabay kits.

No one said it was cheap; only you said it was cheaper...and you get what you pay for. It does nothing for removing the restrictions upstream from the filter.

Exactly, there is a reason K&N's don't come with ribbed intake tubes. I'm not saying the KKM is a bad thing, it is cheaper and I'm sure it does increase performance a little, but not as much as the K&N will. With so little mods readily available for our cars, why go half way?

Cheaper all around would be building your own from the throttle body to the fender. (I don't mean using Autozone part togethers)

do you want the tube for looks?

there is very little performance gain from the actual tube itself.
