Intake Tube Silencer Removal By Acciedent

Well, I was checking the fluids in the ls and decided to wipe down the black pastic under the hood (very dirty). When I was wiping the intake tube silencer I noticed that it was seperating from the intake tube. :Bang
I ended up removing the silencer and making a plug from a small piece of 3/8" plexiglass and epoxyed the peice in so I could drive the thing to work tomorrow. Turned out nice I think. I will have to paint it black tomorrow when I get home from work. Just though I'd share that wuth ya.

How does you magnaflow cat back sound or your v-6? Im thinking on getting one for my ls 6... since most people can only comment on the v-8, I would like to know how it performs and sounds.

I think that it sounds good, but I dont have much to compare it to. Very mello tone at idle. The best part is pulling up to a stop light next to someone and when the light turns green gunning it and watch their look at the next light (what the hell is in that LINCOLN). Its kinda loud in the car (drone) around 3500 to 4500 RPMs. Other than that I think its sounds great.

No. The MKVII/MKVIII guys have been doing this for a while.

Not sure. I would assume that it would make it less turbulant in the intake tube without the silencer. As for the power gains, minimal if any.

Don't know yet. I painted the plexiglass black last night before I went to bed so I took the honda (wifes car) to work. I will let you know when I get home.

No noticable noise or power gain. If you have the stock air box you might hear some difference. It looks alot better though. Check it:
