Interchangeable Alternator

I tried looking for the information and couldn't find a straight answer. Mark VIII alternators are exactly the same as a 4.6 town car and a 4.6 continental. For me it was very hard to locate a mark viii alternator here so I bought a lincoln town car alternator and it works just fine. Compared it to my continental alternator which turns out is also the same. Hope it helps someone.

I believe 1997 4.6 (SOHC/DOHC) through at least 2002 or newer have the same alternator but different years/cars have different outputs. So just keep that in mind when sourcing one.



When I did my intake on my 01 Town car a month ago I compared my 01 Alternator to my spare 93 Mark alternator...
