Not politically huge, but I found this hilarious... Iran has openly expressed outrage over the movie "300" because it depicts Persians (Iranians) as attackers... A little back story: The movie "300" is based off of Frank Millers graphic novel (comic book) of the same name which he was inspired to write from his childhood memories of watching the movie "The 300 Spartans" [1962] which in turn is loosely based off the factual "Battle of Thermopylae" where the Persian army lead by King Xerxes invaded Greece with the intentions of burning Athens to the ground (and eventually subjugating all of Greece) for supporting Persia's enemies years earlier. Long story short, after several battles (Thermopylae being the first), the Persians where eventually driven out and democracy in it's infancy survived.
This would be similar to Japan getting outraged over a movie about Pearl Harbor and it depicting the Japanese as "attackers".
Here's one official story, you can "Google" others.

Javad Shamghadri, cultural adviser to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, said the United States tries to “humiliate” Iran in order to reverse historical reality and “compensate for its wrongdoings in order to provoke American soldiers and warmongers” against Iran. - Hint, Persia did attack and Persia did get it's collective ass kicked; that much of the movie is factually true.
The film depicts Iranians as demons, without culture, feeling or humanity, who think of nothing except attacking other nations and killing people,” Ayende-No said in its article Tuesday. - The movie is a fantasy first and foremost, I think people know Iranians aren't factually 12 foot tall or demons with black blood. Duh.
Iran’s biggest circulation newspaper, Hamshahri, said “300” is “serving the policy of the U.S. leadership” and predicted it will “prompt a wave of protest in the world. ... Iranians living in the U.S. and Europe will not be indifferent about this obvious insult.” - Is that a threat?
