The info display notified me that I have a bulb out. When I looked ,it was the passenger brake light. The manual shows how to replace most of the bulbs, but when I got the the rear brake light it said to have a service technician replace it. Is it that hard to replace the rear brake light bulb??? I haven't tried to get at it yet.

Not at all.... Just remove the carpeting and youll see 3 nuts unscrew them and pull the whole assembly out. once youve gotten there just change the bulb. Real simple. I will never take a car to the shop for a bulb unless its a benz or something thats real hard to get to.

Thanks for the info, I thought it was just that. I'll change it out tomorrow, just thought it was kind of strange that the manual gives detail instruction on other bulbs but when it comes to this one they want you to take it to the dealer.

The manual almost certainly says that because you have to yank the assembly, which is something most Lincoln drivers don't want to do. Plus, if you don't reinstall it correctly, you could wind up with a leak in the trunk (and an unneccessary warranty service item)...
