the light that tells me my lights are out come on and i notice my driverside brake light out. i change the bulb and it still didnt work. my dumb ass didnt check the fuses 1st so i decided to go buy fuses then check it. it wasnt the fuses. but when i was changing my bulb i noticed the harness look burnt. now the dealership is charging me $270 for a new tail lamp assembly and the harness. they wont just put a new harness in. they said my warranty wont cover it. but my booklet says it covers harness but not lamps.

What year is your car? If it is new or came with a warranty, then they should pick it up. Otherwise, if the connector isn't burnt, I would just splice in new wires. But a better question is, why did the harness burn up?

i bought it used and i bout an aftermarket warranty. it says it covers harneses but not lamps and i'm guessing they are counting it as a taillamp assembly cuz that what it says on the wright up they gave me but i havnt replaced it yet. by the way its an 01 sport.

**they sd it comes all together in a set so i get a new taillamp. i needed it anyways. they sd something about loose circuit.

Alright.........you might have a case to get that covered under warranty. If the harness comes as part of the tail light assembly, than by contract, the warrantor must provide services to you (even if they say they only cover harnesses and not tail lamps). If indeed the harness is a part of the tail lamp assembly, than they should cover it.

I just checked to see about your harness and their is a part at this link that may be what you need: http://www.parts.com/partlocator/in...=2001&graphicID=KD00105&callout=5&catalogid=2

preciate the help. i'ma bitch at them tmrw. to try to get them to cover it or atleast knock it down some. if not i'ma go to a different dealership

What aftermarket warranty is it. Some will not cover all parts associated with the defect if it is an updated part. If it says it will not cover lamps, then it will not cover it.

You may want to be sure you have the correct bulb in the lamp. If it's the wrong one, it could be the cause of your harness issue. Too much of a power draw. Check your owner's manual...not what came out of the car.

i got the right bulb in. Its my harness it just messed up. they tolld me somethng bout a loose circuit. i'ma just pay because i need a new tail light anyways. it has a crack in it and water gets in. (that may be a reason why my harness messed up also)

I had the same problem. The tail light would fill half full of water (after rain or washing) and short the circut. The bulb had slightly warped the back casing (black plastic backing of the tail light) and caused a very small crack. I took the tail light out and filled it with water to see were it was getting in. I put some black silicone over the crack and haven't had a problem since. I will post a pic if you want, just let me know.

Yep! That will sure do it! Same thing the wrong bulb will do...only this time the extra current draw is from resistance and/or short to ground from the water.
