You guys think so? Im not sure hard to tell from pic, but looks like his protective clear coat is peelin off. I think on my 94 is was a dealer option, but that is what it looks like, mine did it on a few sections.

Is it like a layer of paint? If so youmay want to get that section done over, it wears off. If you do, when you get him back, take a clay bar cleaning to it to clean the rest of the car really good to help it match better (Props to TorqueMonkey for intro-ing me to clay, it is awesome makes paint look like new)!!!!

Let us know what you find out.

Nope...... Thats the clearcoat seperating from the base "color". The only way to *CORRECTLY* fix this is to re-paint the afflicted section. Sooner or later the whole car will be like that. My 95' is getting repainted as we speak to fix this problem, and the 94' is doing the same exact thing shown in the pictures. It's a factory flaw in the paint, nothing you can do about it unless you repaint it.

Deb.....

It's not a "protective" coat that your thinking of. The paint used on these cars is a 2 stage paint system. Once your body work is done, you spray your "base" coat. This is the color of the car with any metallic or pearl that you will see when the job is done. It looks like a very dull, and very "rough" finish.

The second stage of this is the "clear". It protects the base, and adds the luster you are accustomed to seeing on vehicles now a days. It is MUCH harder than any type of acrylic or urethane paint used on older vehicles.

You can wax it all you want. But the damage is done, and can't be reversed unless you repaint it. Waxing will HELP it from spreading, but won't cure it.

Mine is doing the same thing, but only on the thin strip between the roof and rear quarter panel on the driver's side.
