I love this ride don't get me wrong. Why else would I put over 3 g's into a car I paid only $700.00 for. Just had to tell everyone what I have done with her. Battery, Alternator, starter solonoid, voltage regulator, serpentine blt, high pro sparg plug wires with bosh platinum plugs, coil spring conversion kit, new shocks (kyb), New rotors all around, wheel bearings and new pads, ultra six shooter rims and zexius tires, alignment, coolant flush, oil change, kenwood custom sound with sony speakers, all I have left is the passenger side power window and the damn brights wont stay on

You don't about it yet. But yes it is expensive, since the Mk. VII isn't produced anymore it's harder to trace down parts so when you go to the garage it's hell paying for it. And (my english teachers would kill me if they saw that. lol) if the vehicle hasn't been constantly running then you have a lot to pay for then too.

I feel your pain..blew out my third tranny in less than 9 months...no longer care about the door lock actuators either, drivers side window wont work since yesterday, steering wheel melting more and more every day, some lights work and some dont, but hey, welcome to my M7 pity party...BUT, the car is not for sale and I love the dang thing despite the negative money flow.

actually I don't think it is that expensive as long as you have a good mechanic who works at a fair rate or you can even do a lot on your own. I bought mine with 170k on it and had it checked real good - ended up putting in a electric fan, new radiator, new plugs, wires, oil change, tranny fluid change, new tires, fixed a leaking gasket, replaced all the rubber in the engine bay, changed timing belt, droped in new waterpump, dropped in a MAC cold air intake, removed the silencer, added a cool aftermarket steering wheel and a bunch of gauges. All in all I have spent maybe $1800.00 plus my purchase price of $ 1800.00 - if you ask me, for $3600 this is a hell of a deal considering the kind of car it is - it was supposed to be my 2nd back up car and I can't stop driving it ... :L

My future upgrade will include 3.55 gears, a zex dry N2O kit and the throttle response calibrator - after that it will be all good and just preventive stuff or replacing if something breaks ... and did we mention it is paid for ... as of no car payments ... :N

lol, i replaced basically everything you did, bought the car for 800 and just dropped over another 3k on the trans and driveshaft alone. :L

Mine cost me $1500. I got almost that much in under the hood chrome!!!!! besides fixing all the other usuall problems!!! WHATEVER YOU DO- DON"T TAKE IT TO THE TRACK YOU"LL BE IN DEEP S***T- IT"LL POSSESS YOU YOU"LL FIND YOURSELF UP LATE EVERY NITE FIGURING OUT HOW TO MAKE IT FASTER I have a t-shirt I bought from Disney that has a MARK w/flames that simply says SICKNESS :gr_devil: :gr_devil: :gr_devil:

I try not to think of totals anymore. It'd look like financial suicide otherwise. I just tabulate it under the basic cost of my hobby. Relatively speaking, what we're doing to our cars is still cheap. Just wait until someone gets a concours restoration done...

not to sound dumb, but you do realize that there is sensors on the car so that if someone is coming from the other direction the car automatically turns the brights off, if you are in a well lit area I don't think the brights will ever come on
