Luckily, I am out of town right now and do not have to be subjected to this crap, but how exactly is anyone supposed to help these MTA workers, when they are taking illegal action that is screwing the whole city?
Does misery truly love company? How exactly making working and living conditions worse for 8 million people, the way to get people to recognize and do something about their own working conditions? If they have no problem screwing up our daily life, why should anyone give a damn about their conditions?
This strike is costing the city tens of million per day, the union itself is going to be fined one million dollars per day, every worker out on strike is going to lose 2 days pay for every day they are out, and millions are left with far less effective means of transportation, or none at all. People and families, left out in the cold, and even if the union "wins", they lose, and everybody loses. The social and economic losses will not be recovered, and Christmas will be ruined for many families.
Next time I see a transit worker whining about their work conditions, I'm just going to think about the REAL New Yorkers freezing their butts off in the cold instead.
