It's official! MKS is the replacement for the LS.

Looks like a BMW, but I like the interior.

not necessarily a bad thing... I personally think it looks like an Acura RL.

Engine may be the Yamaha V-8, or as I recall from a survey on their website, 300hp twin turbo V-6.

Looks to me like a Zephyr.

I would agree, with that photo anyway. We need more photos to get a better feel for the car. It had better be awesome since it is going to replace the LS.

personally i think it looks like the new 5series got down with the RL.

Wtf?

Its unAmerican, Yamaha! 4.4, at least put a 4.6 Cobra? in it. Lincoln will or allready is rolling over in his grave!

That article is from April. Good grief, the specs for the car have been in the press for months. I have press kits for the MKS that have the same (and more) pictures and much more detail. This is all old news.

And as far as being "Official", don't believe everything you read in the car rags. I do not believe Ford/Lincoln has ever stated that the MKS is the "official" replacement for the LS.

definately looks like a Bimmer.... MKX is hideous

This is awsome that its coming out in 07. I read some where that the car should do 0-60 in 5.5 sec.
BTW thanks captainalias, for updating us on these things

unAmerican...hehe. Obviously someone who has no concept of international production lines. GM makes more than 55% of its $ overseas and Ford just opened its BIGGEST production plant in Mexico following suit in the relocation of production plants to where the resources are (i.e. raw materials, cheap labor, etc.)

If you mean "unAmerican" is in "not made in America" then you most not own very many things...

Correct me if I'm wrong?

P.S. SHO?

P.S.S.
SIX SPEED AUTO! AWD! 300HP+!

That looks pretty "official" to me.

For your sake, I sure hope they offer remedial reading class at NYU.

I said "I do not believe Ford/Lincoln has ever stated that the MKS is the "official" replacement for the LS."

Here's the Ford press release on the MKS, which contains just about everything Ford has said about the MKS. This has been out since January, btw.

Where does it say the MKS is the replacement for the LS?

Answer: It doesn't.

The MKS looks like a great car, but its not going to be what the LS is now. IMHO, it is somewhere between the LS and the most recent Continental.

God that interior is old manish. Maybe it'll look better in black...

Ph, and the MKX is the ugliest thing I've ever seen.

I don't like to looks of it from the sides or rear. It looks to bulky in the back. Also I don't care for the sunroofs. I would rather see a removable hardtop on a 4 door than the huge glass on top, of course either one would be silly. But I've thought I didn't like cars in the past, but when I saw them in person, my mind changed quickly. Maybe this will happen again when I see this car.

That means the transverse-mounted, 315-horse Yamaha-built 4.4-liter V-8 under the hood

Hmm sounds like SHO motor to me.... Best of both worlds :D

I just wish my 3.4L had more the 235 hp.

The 4.4L V8 (which is currently in the Volvo XC90) is supposed to be an evolution of the Ford/Yamaha Yamaha V8 in the last SHOs.

As for the Un-American comment... You mean it's not all-American, like the JAGUAR block in the V8 LS?

I like the look, but it is FWD/AWD. I HATE FWD based cars!! GM is finally catching on and is converting Pontiac to a host of RWD cars and now Lincoln is eliminating the RWD LS for a FWD car AND axing the town car after next year.

I love the way it looks, I hope they don't mess it up like they did with the Zephyr. The Zephyr's prototype was a sweet lookin car until they made the production version.

The MKS in that form looks real nice though, I wouldn't mind drivin one.

Also the Navigator and the other "SUV" are really, really UGLY!

What car do you think the Ford designers are modelling out of clay here? The Ford concept sedan appeared in the latest episode of the automaker's "Bold Moves" documentary.
