Guys,
I know I've read in here about swapping door panels from Gen. II to Gen. I. I have searched for a good hour and can't find any info. I'm going tomorrow to look at some gray 97 door panels with 40,000 miles on them. will they swap? If someone has done this, would you give me your insight? Also, is there more than one gray in the 97's.

I appreciate any help.

Greg

Yea, there was a light greay, and a dark grey.

AFAIK, the switch contacts are different for both the mirrors, and the windows. because of that, you will have to swap the wiring harness ends out to make it work.

Mike,
I appreciate your knowledge. I'm glad to know there are two colors. you helped me awhile back with my car not starting. It ended up being the fuel pump.

Thanks again for your help. I do appreciate it.

Not even worth the trouble. The contours of the dash are even different to where they meet up at the door jam is different. Will not work. I know personally because I tried it myself on the TerminVIIIor.

O.K. Well, I'm not thrilled about that info to say the least. But, It's good to know the facts. This way I'm not wasting my time. Which I don't have much left (the "C" word) One goal I have is to customize the mark as much as possible. I know it seams ridiculous for that to be a main goal, but that's how much I love my car. Its also amazing how much this site has been beneficial to me. I don't have allot of money so its difficult to save enough for the stuff I want and this site has definitely saved me both time and money. That's what is so great about life, it's the things you enjoy help keep you going. You guys do great work running this site and I think its a very unique and diverse group we have here.

Thanks for all the help everyone,

Greg

Mine turned out fine, all the window's, door lock's and miror's work just fine , every thing lines up great, you do have to do some "creative wireing" but i have had sucsess with it and some friends want me to help with theres. I would also try and get the rear side panels in the back also cuz they look better to.

Only do this if you can get this stuff for cheap. I got a good deal on panels front seats and the rear one. other wise just buy a gen II

Markviiiedrea,
Outstanding! Other wise just buy one.......Crack me up! Great point and yes I can (buy it cheep). Would you do it again? Thanks for responding. I have fond that a few say "yes" it can be done. I haven't seen any pic's. I do like the fact that they are 60% leather (the door panels). The wiring? NO PROBLEM!!! (maybe).... NOT ! I think I can cover it.

I'm more concerned about it all matching up. I've already heard that the grain is different from Gen. I - Gen. II.. But, you really have to look to see the difference. I found out the color is right, light graphite D2. I can get the hole interior. The pass. and back seats have 40,000 on them. If anyone is interested let me know (Fast). Driver seat, I'm told isn't great. If you have pictures of your interior, It would be awesome.

I might have a picture around here some where, but i cant promise any thing. as far as it maching up un less you have a really keen eye and have an attention for detail and realy know the mark viii the panal fits perfectly. just not the wireing! but like i said it can be done just play with it. it might help to have wireing diagram for the door panels.

also put the seats in your car, there easy, the back seat will take less then 5 min and it looks awesome.

Thanks I'm going to try the door panels. As for the seats I already have custom leather seats. But thanks for the advice.
