I promise to nicer if you promise to be smarter.
A trusted tranny shop is going to perform the J-Mod on my LSC tomorrow.

I have printed out the J-mod Instructions in the "Tech Articles" section, and the Shop Owner said "Piece of Cake. Can do".

The transmission was put in by a LMC Dealer in May, under the extended Warranty, so it only has about 10K miles on it. With that said, the shop Owner is pretty sure the tranny has the updated accumulators.

Could you please tell me of any questions I should ask, and any things I should have them keep an eye out for, or do, while they have the Valve Body torn apart? Stuff that is not included in the J-Mod instructions?

Thank you.

You did give him the information from http://www.tccoa.com/ correct? because the article on LvC in the tech section doesn't contain the complete insturctions from the J-Mod just the acculumator upgrades.

Ask to see if you have the revised fluid pan. If you don't, buy the updated Ford pan (or B&M finned deep pan) and install a drain plug on it so you can change the fluid yourself easily and cleaner next time.

Drill the holes, leave out the 2-3 spring, you're done. Leaving out the 1-2 lower spring is pretty harsh- like other people asking "what the hell is wrong with your car?" harsh. :gr_devil:

Did you remember to get new plate gaskets and a filter? Also, just in case your old one is busted, pick-up a new pan gasket.

Thank you for that info. I printed the J-mod instructions off the TCCoA last night, and this AM I went back to the Transmission Shop. I told the... owner, I presume, that It seemed I was mistaken and that there was a little more to it than what I showed him yesterday. He said he figured, since there was mention of holes being drilled in the Valve Body.

My 98 is there now... Can't wait to get her back.

Thanks for all your help.

98 is the easiest and best year to J-mod. You already ave all the accumulator piston upgrades, a better fluid transfer case, the deeper pan, and some of the holes from the pre-98 instructions are already there.

All you need to drill are:

Hole #2: .100-.110 or 7/64 drill bit (that's the intermediate clutch feed for 1-2 shift)

Hole #4, and #5: to .100-.110 also (they make up the 2-3 direct clutch feed)

Hole #9: to .100-.110 (forward feed 4-3 downshift)

Hole #10: to .093 (3/32 drilled) (reverse feed; FYI-this will make your tires chirp, so if you don't like that, leave hole #10 alone!)

Hole #11 to .110 (this is the 4-2 downshift. Definately max this one out :gr_devil: )

Picked up the car yesterday... I dont think they actually did the Jmod, for they charged me ~$250 in parts... ?????????

Either way, the car shifts a lot quicker now, but not hard enough to chirp tires.

I will be content with how it shifts until next year when the motor gets replaced.
